This weeks project was Called Colour explosion, we had to choose from 4 different subjects to base our weeks work on, the options were: Old and new, people and faces, unusual and obscure. My group chose unusual and obscure and these are the images that I produced.
Because we were a group of 4 we all decided to split up into two and go to different locations because we thought if we all went around together then we would have similar pictures and we wanted a variety. We went down the route of perspective photography, I was working on this with Coral and we both liked how it was done so we thought we would have a go of our own for the project.
This is London Road on a busy Thursday afternoon, the streets are quiet but the shops are buzzing.
London Road is known for the well known hyped atmosphere and doesnt look to change any time soon. A local resident says ” I love London Road, its always been my home,Ii come here to shop nearly everyday as its my local, I recommend anyone who lives in Brighton or is thinking of coming to Brighton to visit the London Road high street”.
Strangely a location critique was asked to come to Brighton and he said this “The pick of the bunch is unquestionably London Road: a characterless, sprawling mess inhabited by benefit-scrounging peasants, waddling along with fat bags of economy frozen food from Iceland, puffing away on a cheap Mayfair and possessing an aroma not too dissimilar to the spinal column-infected burgers they feed to their asbo’d-up kids. Despite what the Clampets may believe, London Road is universally loathed.
The only bad thing to say came from him, we’ll let you decide.
This advertorial is for a holiday in Greece, The main image is a view from the poolside looking at the mountains in the background and the sunbeds with the umbrellas over them and a bar within the pool.
The second image is of one of the bedrooms viewing a double bed leading to double doors with lead out to the pool. This image I think is very effective because it makes the location look very calm and as if the pool is just outside your room.
The last image is of some of the activities that are available to the kids, it shows children doing zip-wire, swimming and climbing, there is a big castle in the background. I think this picture is very appealing to the parents because most likely their children would be going on holiday with them and its the best of both worlds for the parents and their kids.
All of the images stand out automatically because of the size and colours, the size of the pictures take over everything on the page and the colours are very vibrant drawing your eyes to them automatically. In my opinion the page is not very well organized, I think there is too much going on within the article. The text is very small compared to the images that are advertising the location which makes it hard to read and there are other adverts and news on the page which may make potential customers get distracted.
Overall I think that the presentation is very well structured because after every image there is a paragraph describing what the image is and what the holiday includes so there is plenty of information.
