This photographer is called Mauren Brodbeck, I think she is a very versatile photographer because although her photographs all use the same kind of style they are all different and unique in there own way. I like how she takes a photograph like an ordinary photographer then manipulates them and brings them to life, adding objects and shapes to create beautifully balanced a colourful photographs.
I love how you can tell that she has planed her photographs very well, knowing what she wants to add in the post production and composing her photographs amazingly which allows her to add whatever she needs to without having to scale them or resize them.
I love them the colours of the added aspects blend into the photograph making it appear that they are naturally there but as you look closer you can see what has been done so well. I also like the shapes that have been used how they are very smooth and curvy making it blend in and merge so much more well to if they were sharp and ragged they would not look as appealing.
I am researching a photographer called Idris Kahn, I have chosen to ressearch his work because i love how his work is so unique and abstract. I like the way that after all the photographs have been merged together it seems like the photograph has movement.
At a first glance at the photograph you would not think that is is made up of a lot of different photograph, to me is looks like the camera has been set on a slow shutter speed and has not been completely still, however i think its abstract because you can see lots of different aspects within the photograph which makes you question how it was developed and made, I think that Idris has a hery unique way of thinking and with usuing such simple tools he can and has created beautiful photographs.
The photographs are very ambiguous because they make you have a second look at what they are, although you can see what they are it makes you question what the other aspects in the photograph are.
Copyright is a legal process enacted by most governments allowing the creator of original work exclusive rights. Copyright also gives the copyright holder credit for what they have produced and may benefit them financially.
Who automatically owns Copyright?
In most cases the author who originally created the work usually owns the copyright. However in some cases such as photography, if the photographer is commissioned by an employer the employer is the first owner of the copyright. In some situations two or more people can be joint authors/owners of copyright.
In the case of a sound recording the author and first owner of copyright is the record producer; in the case of a broadcast, the broadcaster; and in the case of a published edition, the publisher.
How long does Copyright last?
Photography – Photographs are protected for 70 years after the death of the photographer. However if they are subject to Crown copyright then it applies for a maximum of 125 years, if subject to Parliamentary copyright it applies for 50 years from the taking of the photograph.
Sound recording, broadcasts, cable programmes and computer generated works – Copyright lasts for 50 years from the end of the year they were made, released or first broadcast. There will usually be more than one copyright associated with a work such as a song. If you are the composer of the music you will be the author of the musical work and will have copyright in that music. The lyrics of the song are protected separately by copyright as a literary work and will usually be owned by the person who wrote them.
Literary, Dramatic or Artistic Works Copyright lasts for 70 years after the year of a known author’s death. For unknown authors it expires 70 years from the end of the calendar year in which the work was first made available to the public. If a work is produced by two or more authors then the copyright lasts for 70 years after the death of the last of the authors to die.
This project is a personal project meaning we get to choose what our subject is to photograph in the studio, I decided to shoes again for two reasons, one of them being because although we have already had a project on shoes ‘m not 100% happy with my final shot and i would of picked shoes and it gives me a chance to reshoot so it ties in perfectly.
In the shoot for shoes, I decided to go for a black backdrop and use a lowkey lighting setup but to switch things up, for this shoot im using a white backdrop and a flash light, I have decided to go with this because for the shoes i think a flash light would make them look more dramatic and effective.
I plan on using a studio box to have my shoes in purely because i think it would look a lot more productive and clean. I want this shoot to be as perfect as possible and to not have to use Photoshop, I plan on doing two shoots, one with tungsten and the other using a flash light, I want to get two shoots because I think its good to have various different images and to experiment with lighting rather than having all the same effect on the shoe.
I am happy with my final shoot for my personal project I think that it went well and I think i have planned it well and knew exactly how i wanted the photograph to look. I chose this photograph because i think it represents the photograph i was trying to capture and i think its come out better than how i pictured it in my head, I like the way I plan my photograph because i create a picture of what i want it to look like to when the time comes i know exactly what i need and can set up quickly.
I had edited some photograph so I could have a selection of final images, with the post production of the pictures i enhanced the tint and the saturation, no major changes were made because i like to keep my photographs as natural as possible. I kept on switching the shoes around so i could get different points of view of the shoes, I think thats important because if you didn’t you would have all the same pictures and no selection to choose from.
I had my camera on the Manual setting, I had my aperture set to F8, my shutter speed at 1/125 seconds, and my ISO at 100, I used a standard lens of 18-55.
I didn’t want to change the look of my photograph too much i wanted to keep it simple, I am glad that i did not whiten anything or clean anything up from the shoe because as the project is called personal i wanted to keep it as personal as i could because if i had edited the shoes and make them look brand new they would of looked like an advertisement shot and that’s not what i want i wanted them to look worn personally i think it makes the photograph look more interesting.
