The project was on showing us how to achieve negative scanning, first of all we had to choose the film that we wanted to scan and insert it into the negative scanner, then on the computer open the application called Hewlett-Packard which is the scanner then choose these settings to get perfect results.
When everything was prepared I clicked the ‘scan’ button and chose where i wanted the files to be exported to, it then started to scan the images, I had to set the settings to they came out in black and white, they had a very strong red tint in the preview but as you can see on the right hand side they came out in black and white.
When the images had finished scanning I imported them into Photoshop and started to clean them up, I used to patching tool to remove the marks and smudges that were created on the negatives. These are the before and afters from using the patch tool.
As you can see from the before and afters the patch tool really helped me remove the white marks and and other aspects that i did not want to appear in the photograph. I think that it makes brings out the clarity and just makes the photograph more appealing to the audience and engages the viewer more than to the before images with the marks etc. I also think that it makes the picture look more professional and well prepared.
