This project is on hands, I love this photograph purely because of the detail and shadowing that is shown. I think that the detail is what makes this photograph because it engages you into the hand so much more to than if there was no detail and the hand looked bland. I like the lighting because most photographs of hands are used with flash lights and a white background, I think that the lowkey lighting is much more effective because it makes the hand stand out more. I like how the composition isn’t framed to just the hand and how you can see the forearm on the left hand side, it makes the photograph seam more real and engaging.
I plan to shoot my project using a lowkey lighting setup purely because i think the outcome is better and you can use post production a lot more effectively. I wish to keep the post production manipulation to a minimum because i prefer shooting the raw images and it being good enough to not need any post production. The only post production i think i will use is the sharpen to bring out the detail in the hand(s).
These are the two final photographs i have chosen from the shoot. I chose this first photograph because it was inspired by another photograph that i has seen, the picture was of a mans hand but the sharpen had been used dramatically to enhance the detail nd texture of the hands. I decided to produce two final images because of the post production, I wanted to create one photograph with the hands looking soft and appealing and the other looking very rough. I like the fact that I produced two finals because i think its good to have a contract between the two rather than just having one final photograph.
